“Death to Hillary Clinton, death to George Soros” says Augustus Invictus at Liberty Fest NYC; releases new book

Austin Petersen and Augustus Invictus at Liberty Fest NYC

Augustus Invictus, a former candidate for the 2016 Libertarian Party of Florida’s U.S. Senate nomination and the chairman of the Libertarian Party of Orange County, Florida, spoke at Liberty Fest NYC on September 10th, 2016. His speech, posted below, is 8 minutes in length and was uploaded to YouTube on September 13th:

Steve Scheetz, the former chairman of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania who endorsed Invictus before the LPF primary, attended Liberty Fest NYC and told this ATPR editor that probably around 150 people participated in the event. Scheetz said that likely 60-75 people listened to Austin Petersen deliver a speech, and said there were two rooms at the event.

Regarding Invictus, Scheetz told this editor that there are a “variety of characters within the Libertarian movement”:

When discussing the variety of characters within the Libertarian Movement, there are many types. There are those like Gary Johnson who has a smooth style that resonates with people who have only known the current dysfunctional state of politics where people feel like they are forced to vote for the lesser evil in order to have something horrible happen. These people see Gary as someone who is not too terribly far removed from this comfort zone, (for lack of a better term) and they may actually do something this cycle that we have not seen since Ross Perot!

Needless to say there are many within the movement who believe the Johnson Weld crowd to be a bunch of sellouts, or to be people who are not really on board philosophically with “real Libertarians.” There are those like Augustus Sol Invictus, and say what you will, but when speaking to him, I found a calm articulate gentleman. He will tell anyone who will listen that the real him is the man up on stage calling for revolution, because this country is a mess and we really need to do something in order to jumpstart the change! I like Augustus. There are things he says that resonate, there are things he says that make me cringe, and yet, just like Gary Johnson, there is room at the table.

To me, it is all about the message. We are all trying to win hearts and free minds, and whether it is Gary Johnson whose tepid delivery is designed to get a foot in the door, or Augustus Invictus who wants to blow the door off of its hinges, each of us has a part to play in pushing that message. Continuing with this thought, there are many of us that fall in between the two extremes I have mentioned. I am part of the Radical Caucus, and I believe that many of us, even those who believe themselves to be “minarchists” are on the same page philosophically, it is just a matter of timing before it is realized that there is no better government than no government! How do we get there from here? My vision is in line with many others in this regard, and that is the idea that we will create the solution, and once it is up and running, we will start transferring the monopolistic government “services” to the free market. This will obviously not happen overnight, but the more power transferred from the government to the free market (and almost the first order of business is to free the market!) the more people will see that they really don’t need a monopoly in charge of their lives. I am longing for the day when Government becomes obsolete, and I will work with Libertarians of all stripes in order to make that day come to pass!

Invictus recently released a book entitled “The Great War: Speeches & Broadcasts from the Invictus for Senate Campaign,” which chronicles his recent campaign. The 384-page book’s description reads:

A compilation of the speeches and broadcasts from the campaign of Augustus Invictus for the United States Senate, beginning with the announcement of his candidacy on 18 May 2015 and ending with the announcement of his defeat on 30 August 2016.

Other speakers and notable participants included Larry Sharpe (the runner-up for the Libertarian Party’s 2016 presidential nomination), third place VP finisher Will Coley, YouTube personality  Julie Borowski and, as previously mentioned, 2016 LP presidential runner-up Austin Petersen as well as fourth place finisher Darryl W. Perry.

Max Dickstein, one of the founders of Jews for Augustus Invictus and a former editor at the American Third Party Report, published an article on Liberty Hangout two days ago about the event and Invictus’ appearance titled “Austin Petersen & Augustus Invictus Steal Show at Liberty Fest, Gary Johnson Absent.” Petersen’s speech has not yet been uploaded to YouTube as of this article’s publication time.

Invictus is rumored to be considering another campaign in either 2018 or 2020.
