Today, New Hampshire held its duopoly primaries. Ian Freeman, one of the co-founders and co-chairs of the NH Liberty Party, a libertarian, single-state party founded in September 2012 which emphasizes the idea of New Hampshire peacefully and voluntarily seceding from the United States, competed in the Democratic Party nomination for governor. Freeman describes himself as a libertarian, anarchist and voluntaryist. As of 11:26 PM CST, with 94% of the precincts reporting, Freeman was polling in a distant fourth place out of a total of five candidates:

Freeman did not have a campaign website, but he did run a semi-active campaign. New Hampshire secession was a key issue for his latest electoral quest, in fact; unsurprisingly, the first plank of the NH Liberty Party’s official platform reads:

NH Liberty Party members support immediate secession from the organization known as “the United States”. Politically, the organization known as “The State of New Hampshire” should declare independence from US rule and open its borders to all peaceful people wishing to make a better life for themselves and escape worldwide oppression. Personally, NH Liberty Party members support individuals declaring independence from the same “United States” and any other aggressive organizations regardless if they call themselves a “state”, “city”, “town”, etc.

Freeman is the host of the nationally syndicated Free Talk Live radio program, which is heard on over 170 terrestrial radio stations in the United States. One of Freeman’s co-hosts on his radio show is Darryl W. Perry, an unsuccessful 2016 Libertarian Party presidential candidate who is one of the co-founders and co-chairs of the NH Liberty Party as well.

Freeman is currently also being investigated by the FBI due to a child pornography website allegedly being accessed using his home’s wifi. His home, which simultaneously serves as the studio for Free Talk Live, was raided by the FBI in March of this year.  Freeman is well known for his controversial opinions regarding age of consent laws; in fact, his views on child sexuality likely may have played a role in his expulsion from the Free State Project organization, which spearheads a libertarian migration movement in the Live Free or Die state that Freeman played a key role in.

Freeman, like his co-host and friend Darryl W. Perry, is opposed to the candidacy of Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson. On September 9th, Freeman told the host of the Radical Agenda radio show, Chris Cantwell (who briefly ran as the Libertarian Party candidate for Congress in New York’s 1st congressional district in 2010), that he is leaning towards not casting a ballot for president at all on November 8th.

Another candidate of the NH Liberty Party this year was Conan Salada, who ran for a seat in the 400-member New Hampshire House of Representatives; it is unclear if Salada, who technically ran under of a duopoly party, advanced from his primary to the general election.
