From Libertarian Party U.S. Senate candidate Augustus Invictus on Facebook, July 20th, 2016:
Tonight I was elected Chair of the Orange County affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Florida, which election is effective as of this moment.
Our Chair has been sick for several months now. Her absence has caused no small amount of instability, but we are confident that this volatile period is over. We all look forward to growing the affiliate and the LPF, as well as supporting candidates for public office and promoting Libertarian issues at the State and local levels.
It has been questioned whether my acceptance of this position conflicts with my candidacy for the United Stated Senate. My platform as a candidate is entirely separate from my duties as Chair. The mission of the county affiliate is entirely separate from the mission of the campaign. The two cannot and will not ever intersect; so those who attack the Orange County affiliate because they disagree with my campaign are barking up the wrong tree.
It has been questioned whether my personal disapproval of Gary Johnson will affect the position of the Orange County affiliate. It is no secret that Gary Johnson & I dislike each other, both personally & politically. But as a county affiliate of the LPF, we are prohibited from endorsing a candidate from another Party, and I will do all within my power to promote the nominee of our Party through the machinery of our affiliate.
It has been questioned whether I am even eligible for the office and whether the Orange County affiliate is legitimate. Our affiliate’s paperwork has always been in order, and I am a resident & registered voter of Orange County. This entire line of attack is moot, and those who pursue it are publicly shooting themselves in the foot whilst deliberately creating bad blood.
It has been questioned whether I have the time at all to devote to this severe undertaking, given the state of the Orange County affiliate in tandem with my candidacy for public office, my professional affairs, and my sovereignty over the growing Invictus Clan. By happy circumstance, I happen to have extensive experience in management, administration, & leadership, and I know when to take control & when to delegate. I hereby appoint Frank Caprio as head of the Membership Committee and Derek Ryan as head of the Gary Johnson campaign for the Orange County affiliate.
Anyone who wishes to become involved with the Orange County affiliate, seated in Orlando, is encouraged to write me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will help you to find a committee suited to your interests and abilities.
May we all learn to work together, even when we disagree. May the Orange County affiliate be a model of growth & cooperation for the State & National Parties. May we accomplish great things in the four short months I have as Chair.
