From Jill2016.com, June 23rd, 2016:
Jill Stein, the presumptive Green Party nominee for President, harshly criticized the Supreme Court decision today that blocks President Obama’s effort to protect more than 4 million undocumented immigrant parents from the threat of deportation
“Our nation of immigrants needs a just immigration system that won’t allow the ruling elite to divide working people. That means halting deportations, passing the DREAM Act, and creating legal status and a path to citizenship for hard-working, law-abiding undocumented immigrants,” said Stein.
Stein said if elected President, she would seek to reinstate the administrative protections against such deportations and appoint a US Supreme Court Justice that would uphold the constitution and protect the needs of average people.
“The US government shouldn’t be deporting innocent families who are fleeing violence, starvation and persecution in their home countries. Forcing them to return puts them at risk of rape, torture, and death. Many have already had family members murdered or actively threatened with murder,” said Stein.
Stein noted as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton supported the deportations of immigrants. This includes refugees—women and children – coming from Honduras, whose refugee crisis Clinton was very much responsible for by giving a thumbs-up to the corporate coup in Honduras that created the violence from which those refugees are fleeing. Instead of addressing the root of the problem, the Obama administration has decided to attack the people most harmed by Bill Clinton’s NAFTA, which lined the pockets of Wall Street and harmed working people on both sides of the border.
Stein has previously criticized the Obama Administration’s night raids on immigrant families as “a morally abhorrent response to a refugee problem deeply rooted in predatory U.S trade, drug and military policies.”
