The Jill Stein for President campaign announced today that Dr. Jill Stein has secured enough delegates to win the Green Party’s Presidential nomination at the party’s upcoming national convention.

The nomination is not official until then.

Dr. Stein said that a June 12 NBC poll showing her at 5% nationally, up from 2% in a PPP poll in mid-May, was an unmistakable sign that her campaign was gaining momentum. “With a tiny fraction of the money and free media attention available to Clinton and Trump, we’ve earned the support of millions of Americans and we’re growing fast,” said Stein.

“The American people are tired of the rigged economy and the rigged political system that created it. The presumptive Democratic and Republican nominees are the most disliked and mistrusted of all time. In the streets and in the polls, we’re hearing that a majority of Americans want a better choice. Representing the one national party not poisoned by corporate money, my campaign has the unique ability to offer solutions that benefit the American people, not the powerful corporate interests funding the political establishment – the predatory banks, fossil fuel giants and war profiteers,” said Stein.

“We are fighting to open up the debates, so the American people can know who their choices are. We’re calling for a common sense rule for participation – to include all candidates on enough ballot lines to win the presidency. We are challenging the Commission on Presidential Debates controlled by Democratic and Republican party elites,” said Stein. “The League of Women Voters described the debates run by the Commission as ‘a fraud perpetrated on the American voter.’ It time to open up the debates and end that fraud.”

“Our campaign is building America’s only party that puts people, planet and peace over profit. We are the only campaign calling for an emergency Green New Deal providing 20 million green jobs to transition to 100% renewable energy and avert climate catastrophe; for free public higher education and cancelling student debt; for healthcare and education as basic rights for all; for a welcoming path to citizenship; for an end to police violence and the war on drugs; for a foreign policy based on international law and human rights; and for fixing our broken political system to get big money out of politics and put the people back in,” said Stein.

Stein said she had begun the process of reaching out to potential Vice-Presidential candidates, and that her priority is finding a running mate who can lift up the various front line communities and issues she is focusing upon, including Black Lives Matter, climate justice, ending poverty, and abolition of student debt.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported our campaign, including those who are voting Green for the first time as well as long-time Greens who have led the charge for decades to bring real democracy to America,” said Stein. “I would also like to thank my fellow Presidential candidates for running a substantive, uplifting campaign that we can all be proud of. This campaign is for all of us, and I look forward to working together to create an America, and a world, that works for all of us.”
